Everyone has an ancestry, even Jesus. Luke wrote down a genealogy.
Jesus’ step-father was Joseph, and his father was Heli. Lots of generations earlier was Zerubbabel, and generations before was King David, whose father was Jesse. Then Jacob, whose father was Isaac, whose father was Abraham. Then even more generations earlier was Noah. He can be traced back to Seth whose father was Adam. He was created by God.
In the Gospel of Matthew, there is a genealogy but his goes back to Abraham, showing that Jesus was related to all Jews. Luke’s genealogy went back to Adam, showing that Jesus was related to all people.
I have a father named James whose father was Gerard whose father was Frank. Genealogies tell about the generations before us, but does that really tell us who we are? What really tells us who we are is what we do. By looking to Jesus we can tell what to do.
